Past projects
TeamInteract is declared a success
If you could have your time all over again, what would you do differently? That’s the usual question when you reach the end of a project, which is exactly the point TeamInteract has reached, as we bring the project to a close after two and a half years.
We’ve worked with a fantastic range of people and businesses across all sectors and all areas of Yorkshire and the Humber. We’ve been very impressed by the imagination and dedication shown by the companies we have funded, and by the willingness to change shown by the delegates at the ‘Internet Means Business’ events.
The results are excellent. Out of the 11 internet applications funded by TeamInteract, many have made a really impressive impact and won several awards. For example, Netconstruct’s WebVU tool has been integrated into the company’s main online video management product, which has generated an impressive client list. One of their clients, Bleikers Smokehouse, has used this marketing tool to win new business from Morrisons, Asda and Booths supermarkets, amongst others, to see their turnover more than double in just a year.
Comet IT have set up a new business Mobile Safety Solutions to promote their handheld computer (PDA)-based safety systems and are in negotiation with some of the UK’s largest construction organisations. In fact most of the businesses we’ve worked with have recorded an improvement in turnover and/or efficiency. Not every project has become a resounding success, but that’s only to be expected where new ideas are being tried out for the first time. But our admiration goes out for all the effort made trying to ensure the success of all the new products.
We’re also really pleased that, as the project sponsor, Yorkshire Forward has gained a lot from the project as well. Not only are there 18 top quality video case studies, that were recently showcased at the Yorkshire Digital Awards, but the project smashed pretty well all the targets that we were allocated to reach.
| Creation/Attraction of new companies | eight companies |
| Create/Safeguard New Jobs | 94 jobs |
| New SME R&D spend | £ 945,000 |
| Attract Private Sector Finance | £ 1,400,000 |
| Increased business sales (£) | £ 8,000,000 |
So with results like those, what would we change? Well Yorkshire Forward’s Project Manager, Sue Graham, put it nicely when she commented “It is great – the project has done really well. We are thrilled with everything”. So perhaps it’s best not to change a thing and be happy with all the achievements the poject managed to achieve.
If that sounds like we’re resting on our laurels, think again. We’re now working on a scheme to communicate the every evolving opportunities of intelligent business practices to as wide an audience as we can through the Outbox interactive video and social networking project for business people. So if you want to keep up to date sign up to receive more information about the launch of TheOutbox later this autumn.
